Servant Ministries

Outreach Ministry
St. Peter’s offers on-going support and service to several community and church organizations in our region. These include The Southeast Virginia Food Bank, The Canterbury Center at Old Dominion University, and Norfolk Urban Outreach Ministry. This support is both financial and hands-on through collections, food preparation, and visitation. We also enjoy a special relationship with St. James’ Holiness Church in Norfolk, whose congregation occupies the “Old St. Peter’s” church buildings in Brambleton.

Missions
In conjunction with our Companion Diocese of Belize, occasional trips are taken to Belize to build, restore, and offer aid to our Christian brothers and sisters there. In recent years, several of our parish members have traveled to Punta Gorda in Southern Belize to help restore St. Joseph’s Anglican Church and to begin work on a rectory there. We have also done a teacher exchange between their Day School and ours. In the past, work teams have also traveled to Aruba and The U.S. Virgin Islands to help local congregations repair buildings damaged by hurricanes.

The Call
The Call is our monthly newsletter which keeps parish members informed of upcoming events and services. It is also a source of information for articles and news items, Vestry meeting highlights, birthdays, anniversaries, and other news about parish family members. Laura Kallestad is the editor.
